Work Woes: Can’t Rain On My Parade!

In my workplace, I am constantly surrounded by non-believers and have even experienced personal judgment from said individuals, for believing in the Lord. However, being a firm believer in Christ, and with the strength that He holds, my faith is not shaken, and I continue to work amongst these people, and do not lash out in retaliation from their judgment.

Funny how now, we all get along and act like a dysfunctional family, whereas eight months ago, I was immediately judged the day I got hired.Β I was known as the “Jesus-girl” and stereotyped as a “religious nut” prior to me even working there for a month! ButΒ I had no fear. This was not a task that I could not take on, for we have to remind ourselves that God will not give us anything we cannot handle.

James 4:11,Β Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of [his] brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
In other words, what you are saying about someone may be true, but you’re casting these judgements on people to make yourself look good, and put that said person in a bad light. Your motive for judging is out of jealousy, selfish ambition, pride, etc, and that is judging wrongly.

  • Pray. There will come a time when you are judged for believing in our Father. What is important is what you do with that judgement. For me, it gave me even more of a reason to be the light in my workplace. These people do not have the Lord in their hearts, and for that, I pray for them every day.
  • Share whatever knowledge you have of His word, for that may be the only time that these non-believers hear the word.
  • Discover. I’ve made it a personal mission to become more knowledgable in my bible studies, because I want to be equipped with the proper answers if someone has questions.
  • Research. If there is a question that you can not answer, and have no idea, do not worry. We do not have all the answers, but the bible does! Asking questions of your own is important!

We must carry out His word no matter how tough the situation. Beaten down, slandered, discriminated against, whatever Satan will throw at you, you must not back down from the fight. The world desperately needs the word of God, no matter how small or big the situation may be.
